If these guys keep fighting their self-confessed temptations, the gay community will no doubt be heartily relieved. On the surface this song is completely offensive but it also happens to be very funny if your mind is twisted in a special way. With the joke being on evangelical American Christians.
The band Evening Service and singer Donnie Davies are a fascinating proposition - they appear to be deadly serious but also play as a support act for Norweigen death metal band Turbonegro (see poster below).
Of course, Evening Service did not desribe Turbonegro as a death metal band on their website. Their words - "the internationally infamous group of homosexual Black Metal Devil wizards that call themselves Turbonegro. The group comes from Norway where burning churches is a national sport and homosexuality is subsidized by the government." The poster exhorts us to "Watch Donnie cock-block the Dark Lord on his own turf."
This video has been banned from MySpace and MTV. Not surprising really as mature minds and context are needed to cope with the subtext of 'comedy' like this.
