The Public Health Student Group at NYU held a fair yesterday in the Kimmel Center for University Life to raise awareness of local and global public health issues.
The fair featured booths with organizations including the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Academy of Medical and Public Health Services, the NYU Langone Medical Center, the NYU Master of Public Health program and UNAIDS.
Scott Spiegler, a Steinhardt graduate student in Public Health who works at the New York City Department of Health, was one of the organizers of the event.
"Our idea was to create an event geared toward undergraduates to help spread awareness about public health issue and organizations in New York City," Spiegler said. "The idea also came to fruition just as our program was being merged to create the new Global Institute of Public Health. The event was a way to not only spread awareness and promote public health in the city, but it served as a platform to publicize our new institute."
